Evangelism—Spreading
the Good News of Jesus and his love by word and deed.
Inside-Out—Most
activities are either mediated by screens or done briefly, six feet away, and
behind masks.
What a Pandemic Society Needs that the Church Has:
-The confidence found in Christ! Jesus has redeemed
you; you are enough. You don’t need to DO anything.
-We have multiple vocations. This is especially
important when many of them are stripped away.
-Look, do-gooders who’ve been doing good even
before the pandemic (e.g. Food Pantry).
-An ordered life in the face of a disordered
world (e.g. daily prayer)
-A framework for thinking about priorities as our
choices are limited.
-The ideas of Jubilee & Sabbath!—periods of rest.
The Gospel the Church needs to hear in the time of
Pandemic:
Potential Upsides to remote worship:
-A “soft” & safe (re)entrance into the faith.
-A lower barrier for those often excluded.
-Convenience (can attend, and also go to sports
with kids)
No longer in buildings confining:
-We’re a sent church.
-Absence makes the heart grow fonder.
-Greater personal responsibility for our faith (e.g.
Priesthood of all believers).
