They're selling Gandhi's glasses

I don't know, it seems to me that there is something wrong, or at least ironic, about that.

NPR evangelism

Well this week is apparently pledge week at NPR. The way the announcer was selling NPR it sounded like a religion. At one point he encouraged people to send money if they, "believed in the insight that NPR brings each day." He talked about how it is an important part of a person's daily existence and it helps people in essence know right from wrong. Seemed odd to me.

"Happy Obama Day"

That's the greating I've recieved from several folk today. So... Happy Obama Day!

Monday, January 19, 2009

So grapple with that: a black urban Democrat is pledging to be far more fiscally responsible than a Texas Republican.

Check out Andrew Sullivan's lastest article. Basicly he says Obama is going to try and do what's best for the country and will be post-partisan or at least post-boomer.
Oh, apparently Obama is the product of "Hawaiian hippiedom" no wonder I like the guy!

Chris

If you're going to play in Fargo

As some of you know I was born in Fargo--went back to Grand Forks last summer to do Chaplaincy--so this is a song for all us snowy scandinavians and those who love us.

extreme weather "back home"

Not that Portland is exactly "back home" but I've got some ties there. First they get tons of snow, then it floods... makes sense. I hope everyone stays safe etc.

Look mom I'm a KGB analyst!

So this fellow seems to think the US is about to implode and get cut up into various regions influenced by the major powers of the world, Mexico, Russia, the EU, Canada, and Japan.
I don't buy it, but here is my prediction of how the US would split up if it was to split.

I think my map is slightly more culturally competent than his... only slightly though :)
Peace,
Chris

Bail out, bail out, don't like capitalism all you have to do is pout

Seriously I guess I thought capitalism involved risk for investors. Could it be that the type of risk we have encouraged in our society was not sustainable? Is there a form of limited capitalism that does not encourage harmful, negligent, risk?

blogging is in my genes

Grant is a second cousin. He's very thoughtful, has wrote a book, and writes a column for the local paper.

What if?

What if all of contemporary thought, values, and social norms are the result of collective post-tramatic stress brought on by World War Two?

28% of people looking at my blog are looking for Zorba the Greek Quotes

I just thought that was kinda odd.
Other than that people are looking for Advent and Eschatology. Who knew.

As Richardson goes so goes the nation

Well, not exactly, but I apparently got a haircut the same day Fox News asked Obama why Richardson cut his facial hair... coinicidence? I think not.
Peace,
Chris
PS My barber sent me this article.
